There are plenty of animals here in Ghana. When most people think of Africa they think of elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, lions, cheetahs, etc. Well basically I have not seen any of the above since I've been here. In Africa, like in most of the world, humans dominate the land and have killed off most of the large animals. They do have plenty of birds, reptiles, and insects.
Ants
Africa has ants a plenty. There are ants everywhere. The ants love to come into the house in swarms. On more than one occasion ants have invaded my house.
The ants come in all different sizes. Each different ant occupies a niche. Some live in the ground, some live in the trees.
Here are some pictures of the ants. Notice in the first pic the black trail of ants crossing the road. The subsequent pictures are of the same trail of ants. The last pic is one I took an Tano Sacred Grove in the forest.
