The last day of staging we went to the clinic and received shots then we checked out and boarded a bus to JFK airport in New York. Our flight, Lufthansa 8873, was a little late but not too bad.

To reach Accra Ghana we had two 8 hour flights. First we flew from New York to Frankfurt, Germany. Then we flew from Frankfurt to Lagos, Nigeria. The stop in Lagos was brief and we continued on to Accra which was about another 45 minutes to 1 hour.

When we finally arrived in Accra, Ghana the temperature was a balmy 85 degrees fahrenheit and it was about 5:00 PM Friday. We were all tired but anxious for what was to come.

Below are a few pictures of the flight to Ghana. The first picture is of the airplane we flew on. The fourth one is in Frankfurt Germany where we had a layover for a couple of hours. The last picture is one I snapped as we were rushed into the PC cars to leave the airport. The two girls in the picture were among a large group of current PC volunteers that were at Kotoka international airport to greet us as we arrived.

We left the airport in a convoy with a police escort to go to Valley View University about 15 miles to the north where we stayed for about a week.
