In an effort to prevent the humble PCV's from starving once they get to site and are one their own, a cooking session is worked into the training.
We were divided into groups and made to cook. I'm not exactly sure if we were supposed to make Ghanaian food or just any food using locally available ingredients. Anyway it worked out pretty well. I made a dish called Red Red which consists of a spicy tomato sauce with beans and ripe plantains fried in palm oil. My two cohorts, Chris and Russ, made fried potatoes which everybody enjoyed. Other volunteers made all sorts of items and we all enjoyed it into the night.
